So if you get the grant, the first thing your organization should do is make a phone call or write a heartfelt note in appreciation. At the beginning of a funding relationship, hopefully a long-term one, a little ‘thank you’ can go a long way.

What’s required? Not much! Just express your appreciation for the fact that they will be supporting your good work.

Fostering the relationship between your organization and your funder is not usually something that an outside grant writer is involved in, and yet it can have everything to do with whether a grant proposal is successful. So lay the best foundation for future grant applications and show that you’re grateful for the money!
